Welcome To The Cove Chronicles

The Gamble House

Designed by the Greene Brothers during the height of the Arts & Crafts movement (I am not talking macaroni gilt art from your aunt susie either... the REAL A&C movement of the early 1900's), this house was actually built for the Gamble family (of Proctor and Gamble fame). It is located in Pasadena, California. I highly recccommend a tour if you have the opportunity.

The Greene's architectural style is very prevelent in my story. The town actually adopts this method of design and adopts it as a planned approved architecture of the town. Nearly all of the homes in Hallett's Cove resemble this style.

I know that to imply that the town has this predisposition to design all of their homes in this manner is rather odd and might embue a gated community feel to it. However, that would be missing the point: The town has a certain consciousness; it knows what it is. It is nothing more than that.
